No theatrical releases for Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Jhund’ and Abhishek Bachchan’s ‘Ludo’; films’ rights sold to OTT platform

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan and his son are all set to take over the digital space it seems. According to the latest buzz, Big B’s highly anticipated flick ‘’ and the Abhishek Bachchan and multi-starrer ‘’ will reportedly not have a theatrical release, but an release. Reports state that the makers have allegedly sold the rights of the films to one of the online streaming giants. Owing to the current pandemic crisis and the uncertainty looming over the re-opening of theatres any time soon, the makers reported decided to go ahead with an online release instead.

The current economic crunch apart from other factors are reportedly forcing filmmakers to look out for other platforms, to recover as much money as they can. While it may take a long time for theatres to reopen, OTT platforms are proving to be the go-to option for filmmakers and producers.

However, an official announcement on the same is still awaited from both teams.

At a time when there is a buzz around town that many other Bollywood films will opt for such digital releases, film exhibitors and theatre chains have requested filmmakers to avoid releasing their films online, emphasising that releasing films on OTT will make cinema halls irrelevant.
