Abhishek Bachchan took to Instagram to share a tribute video for his father Amitabh Bachchan on winning the Dada Saheb Phalke award.
Three days after it was announced that Amitabh Bachchan will be conferred with the Dada Saheb Phalke award, his son Abhishek Bachchan paid a tribute to him on social media. And it was totally worth the wait.
Abhishek took to Instagram and shared a song titled Give It Up For Bachchan from the 2013-released anthology Bombay Talkies. This song shows kids dressed up as some of Big B’s most iconic characters. From Anthony Gonsalves (Amar Akhbar Anthony) to Subhash Nagre (Sarkar), Don (Don) and Iqbal Aslam Khan (Coolie), and many others, every character is seen shaking a leg in the 3-minute-36-second video, taking you through Big B’s entire career in Bollywood.
“Baap! #DadaSahebPhalkeAward #GiveItUpForBachchan #ProudSon,” Abhishek wrote in his caption.
Apart from kids donning Big B’s outfits and dancing to the song, the video also features actor Vineet Kumar Singh standing in the crowd outside Amitabh Bachchan’s mansion to meet him.
In the film Bombay Talkies, Vineet plays the character of Vijay ( coincidentally Amitabh’s name in several films) from Allahabad, who wants to offer homemade ‘murabba’ to Amitabh and meet him personally for the sake of his ailing father.
Bombay Talkies, which is directed by four filmmakers – Karan Johar, Dibakar Banerjee, Zoya Akhtar and Anurag Kashyap, was made to celebrate 100 years of Hindi cinema. The anthology had four short films helmed by each director and Amitabh’s story was one of them.
Amitabh Bachchan, who gained popularity with films like Prakash Mehra’s Zanjeer, Ramesh Sippy’s Sholay and Yash Chopra’s Deewaar, will be awarded the most prestigious award – Dada Saheb Phalke this year. Before the tribute, Abhishek already wrote a congratulatory note for his father’s big achievement on Twitter.
Abhishek had retweeted Union Minister Prakash Javadekar’s announcement and wrote, “Overjoyed and so proud.”

Amitabh’s daughter Shweta Bachchan also acknowledged the same by sharing a throwback photo on Instagram. She wrote, “Whose your Dada (Saheb Phalke)? Uncontainable excitement, pride, tears, and general hysteria! Congratulations Papa.”
Time to “Give It Up For Bachchan!” right?
