After dropping verses in Umesh Shukla’s 102 Not Out, Amitabh Bachchan is returning to rap for a song titled “Aukaat” in Sujoy Ghosh’s Badla. The song will be a part of the film’s opening credit. “The aim is to set the tone for the thriller with some hard hitting lyrics. The track also reflects the current mood and angst of society,” said a source close to the development, adding that the track was shot with the Big B recently on a set in Mumbai.
According to Sujoy, his lead actor’s baritone adds flavour to the number. “Bachchan sir has elevated the vibe of the video. It presents him in an uber-cool avatar. He rapped effortlessly,” the director added. The song is composed by Clinton Cerejo while Bosco and Caesar have directed it.
Badla marks a reunion for Amitabh and Taapsee Pannu, who had featured in Shoojit Sircar’s courtroom drama, Pink, in 2016.
Buzz is, the film, which is an official adaptation of the Spanish thriller, The Invisible Guest, also has a cameo by Shah Rukh Khan. “You need to watch the film to find out,” Sujoy signs off.
